Off-Season

2020-present

Bustling with life and color in the summer months, Coney Island—home to the iconic Luna Park—undergoes a dramatic transformation during winter. The roar of rollercoasters fades, game booths shutter, restaurants close their doors, and the lively boardwalk turns into a hushed, near-abandoned stretch of wooden planks. This ongoing project explores the quieter side of Coney Island. It captures the solitary figures who visit the beach in the off-season—those who stroll in silence, brave the frigid Atlantic for a swim, or simply coexist with the seagulls who reclaim the sand. Through these images, I document a place suspended in time: stripped of spectacle, yet steeped in nostalgia. Until the warmer days arrive, Coney Island holds a space of melancholy, longing and reminiscence.
