"Chosen Sisters" is a project about women empowerment, about the strength, tenderness and symbiosis of female sisterhood.

Under the uncertainty, loneliness, and isolation of the deathly second wave of COVID-19 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in April 2021, I began portraying young women in their twenties and early thirties who had been best friends their whole lives and that had experienced remoteness too during the pandemic, to share their stories of timeless sisterhood. For some of the women, the day of the photoshoot was their first reunion after a year of physical distance, and they all stated that it was as if they had not spent a single day being apart.

With these raw portraits, the project explores how a true female friendship not only looks like but also feels like. During this intimate process, these chosen sisters -as they state to be- reveal the closeness, strength, honesty and protectiveness of their enduring bond. They are a testimony of the growing power of women united.
