Sitopia is Buenos Aires City’s only rooftop organic farm, founded and led entirely by women. Created by Florencia, Rocío, Camila, and Luciana — all in their twenties — Sitopia is redefining how Argentinians engage with their food. Through daily practices like composting, recycling, home vegetable gardening, and eliminating single-use plastics, they are inspiring a growing community to create a sustainable cycle of nourishment that gives back to the Earth.

Since its beginnings before 2020, Sitopia has evolved significantly, especially through the pandemic years. New young members joined the project, and its mission expanded beyond the rooftop: today, Sitopia installs organic gardens in homes and apartments across the city and offers workshops on organic farming and composting for children, youth, and local companies.

Each member of Sitopia brings a unique story of transformation: Florencia, Sitopia’s founder, transitioned from a career in human resources to urban farming in Mexico before bringing the vision back home. Rocío left a promising path in politics to dedicate herself fully to the farm. Camila, a future veterinarian who once worked with rhinos in South Africa, returned to help the environment through a different route. Luciana discovered her passion for urban farming after attending a growing workshop and soon became an essential part of the team.

At the heart of Sitopia is a shared belief: women have a special bond with nature — one rooted in care, stewardship, and a commitment to nurturing rather than exploiting the Earth’s resources.
